Tribute to Margaret Cilento

Installations, the exhibition held in May 2007 at the Monash University Prato Centre in Italy, has included a tribute to Margaret Cilento, the Australian painter deceased in 2006.

Margaret Cilento has played a significant role in the genesis of AILAE and more so, she has in her own life and art, vividly articulated the dynamics that are at heart of the project. .Cilento

Margaret's rich visual discourse is intensely close to European masters as well as profoundly Australian.

AILAE wishes to work towards and is already investigating possibilities for future tributes to this extraordinary, historic figure in contemporary Australian art and hopes to include a section dedicated to her work in the Diaspora and Displacement project.
