Aborigines speak of jiva or guruwari, a "seed power" deposited in the earth. In the Aboriginal world view, every meaningful activity, event, or life process that occurs at a particular place leaves behind a vibrational residue in the earth, as plants leave an image of themselves as seeds. The shape of the land - its mountains, rocks, riverbeds, and waterholes - and its unseen vibrations echo the events that brought that place into creation. Everything in the natural world is a symbolic footprint of the metaphysical beings whose actions created our world. As with a seed, the potency of an earthly location is wedded to the memory of its origin. The Aborigines called this potency the "Dreaming" of a place, and this Dreaming constitutes the sacredness of the earth. These legends have been handed down through the ages and will continue to be passed on for generations to come.

Artist Biography
Born in New South Wales, Australia 1976.
Graduate of the National Art School, Darlinghurst, Sydney.
My art practice explores the role of ordinary people in everyday life.
My imagery comes from collecting pictures and photographs of people, usually captured in a personal moment like the animation of laughter, the stare that looks through you or simply the gaze of reflection.
As a hairdresser I have the unique opportunity to engage with people in their personal space. I'm able to study the lines and emotion in a face as they're telling me a story or about their day.
My painting seems to be influenced by my sculptural background. i construct the form in a modelling sense. Each stroke or section is a building block for me as I try to create a three dimensional image on a two dimensional surface. the result seems to be a play between abstraction and figuration.
The technical process of a painting is my journey. With a strong knowledge of drawing I find the issues of space, composition, colour and mark making at the forefront of my mind.
